How to post a listing
WasteSupport requires users to be verified and authorised before they can post a listing on the platform.
Once you have been authorised, you can post a listing by:
- Clicking the 'Post a new listing' button in the top right hand corner
- Select the most relevant category for your listing
- Select the type of listing that you are posting
- Fill out the details of your listing
- try to be as detailed as possible
- If you have a specific quantity in units (tonnage, households etc.), it may be best to list this in your description.
- Upload an image to your listing, for the best results your image should be 660 x 440 pixels – please note an image is not essential
- Click 'Post listing'

What is Waste Support?
WasteSupport is a new free resource-sharing platform to support resources and waste sector during the coronavirus crisis. The platform has been developed by CIWM in partnership with WRAP and other leading public and private sector organisations – Association of Directors of Environment, Economy, Planning & Transport (ADEPT), Environmental Services Association (ESA), Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC), London Waste & Recycling Board (LWARB), and United Resource Operators Consortium (UROC).
The new service provides an online sharing forum that enables local authorities facing resource challenges in maintaining all of their household waste collection services because of COVID-19 to indicate where they need service capacity support, as well as other requirements such as PPE or vehicle maintenance engineers. Commercial waste firms with surplus capacity can also use the platform to indicate those services they are able to supply, thereby providing a ‘virtual marketplace’ to facilitate sharing.
What organisations is Waste Support for?
WasteSupport is designed to connect local authorities that have particular needs with commercial waste companies that have resources available to meet those needs.
Who can see the listings?
Only registered users have the ability to view listings, communicate directly through the platform or post listings. This is strictly controlled through security measures.
What do I need to do to post listings?
To post a listing, local authorities and commercial waste companies must apply to join the marketplace via a short registration process. Applications are then reviewed, and email confirmation is sent once this process is complete. Once an application has been submitted, the approval process will be completed as soon as possible during the hours of 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday (excluding Bank Holidays). Once registered, users can post and respond to as many listings as needed.
How can I contact a listing owner?
Any registered user can contact a listing owner through the marketplace’s messaging facility or by using contact details included in the listing where these have been provided.
What if there is no search category describing what I am looking for or have available?
If you cannot find an appropriate category for your listing, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
How can I access help with Waste Support?
